I dream of connections that last
I am longing for a world in which we create connections that last. A world in which we value and lovingly celebrate connections – between humans as well as between humans and the environment.
Have we met yet?
I am Katharina
Goldsmith, Techno lover, city dweller and nature person.
I love contradictions: opulence and minimalism, organic shapes and strict geometry, pink tulle and grey concrete.
I craft favourite pieces. Memories to be worn, gather marks and tell a story.
It has not always been like that. I used to work in many, in some cases very large, jewellery manufacturing businesses where I crafted the same pendant up to 200 times per day. At some point, it just made me sad.
Because a piece of jewellery can mean so much.
So why create mass produced pieces, when I could instead embark on a journey through your story with you?
Where I can close the material cycle almost completely by reworking your old pieces?
By using pre-loved gemstones or misifts that feature their own unique and exciting inclusions and colors?
These days I have the opportunity to meet you, to get to know you. Together we will create a piece of jewellery as unique as you are.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and your story.
sustainable, lovingly crafted, extraordinary
My pieces are created with a lot of love and respect for the material. Every gemstone and every precious metal passes through a lot of hands before it is fashioned into the final piece. That is why it’s important to me to work in a manner that is as sustainable as possible and to maintain my own little cycle. I want to prevent the need for constant mining of new material. This is the reason why I like to employ the principle of “Urban Mining” as often as possible: I use jewellery that already exists. These pieces of jewellery are then melted down or remodeled without having to use new material.
So you can wear your favorite piece every day knowing that your grandma’s favorite piece is a part of it – and knowing that you contributed to fighting water pollution as well as fighting poor working conditions in the countries in which raw materials for jewellery are mined.
